Daily requirement Vitamins
Since our body cannot produce the vitamins itself in sufficient quantities, it is important that we absorb vitamins through food. Some fat-soluble vitamins can be stored over a longer period of time and delivered to the cells if necessary. Water-soluble vitamins, on the other hand, can be poorly stored by the body and therefore must be absorbed through food every day.
One exception is vitamin D. When enough sun rays come onthe skin, the body can produce vitamin D itself. Fat-soluble vitamins also include vitamins A, E and K.
Vitamin A, for example, is important for the healthy function of the eyes, vitamin E is used for cell protection and vitamin K is an important blood clotting factor.
Water-soluble vitamins include, for example, B and C. B vitamins are important for the nervous system and central metabolic functions, while vitamin C can support the immune system and connective tissue.
