Other minerals
Minerals and trace elements are micronutrients. Since the human organism cannot produce them itself, they must be absorbed through food or supplements. They are essential for many processes: bone building, nerve and muscle functions and the regulation of the water balance are among their tasks.

Overview of minerals
The most important minerals are calcium (for bones and teeth), potassium (for heart, nerves and muscles) and magnesium (for active muscles). The trace elements, i.e. vital substances, which the body contains only in very small amounts, include zinc (for a strong immune system), iron (oxygen transport) and iodine (growth, nervous system). Their iodine balance should be particularly important for at-risk groups such as pregnant women, adolescents or vegetarians and vegans who have special requirements for iodine care.
